A NOTE FOR BELONG GROUP LEADERS: PLEASE READ
This new Belong Group lesson format is designed to help facilitate increased dialogue and discussion within the meeting. Here are a few tips to help you:
- The lesson is designed to encourage conversation and prompt people to think:
- “How does this apply to me?”
- “What changes do I need to make to incorporate this teaching in my life?”
- “What is the Holy Spirit saying to me about this?”
- You don’t need to use every question.
- Be mindful of one or two individuals dominating the discussion (including yourself). We want to encourage feedback from a variety of individuals. Understand that everyone may not contribute to each question. You may have to initiate the dialogue by answering a question yourself, but the goal is to get everyone involved.
- Be mindful of long answers that don’t allow time for others to participate.
- Be mindful of the time. Start on time and keep the lesson portion to no more than one hour. Don’t recap for late individuals. There is time for additional fellowship after the lesson concludes, but ending the lesson with prayer allows people to leave if they have other obligations.
- Commentary is added to help you transition to new topic of discussion
- Have fun!
- Be mindful of the atmosphere. Have fun, and if the topic is heavy, be comforting, and end with encouragement.
Thank you for your service to the ministry and the Kingdom of God!
