Generational 1: The Power of Generational Blessing
Text: Genesis 1:28
Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.
Generation comes from the root word generate, meaning to bring something into ____________________.
The Hebrew word often translated “generations” is toledah, a word used throughout the Old Testament to describe family lines, origins, and historical accounts.
The First Blessing
Genesis 12:2-3 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.
What is the difference between “blessed” and “to bless”?
When you are _______________, you receive the benefits of God’s goodness; but if the blessing stops with you, it never reaches the people He intended to touch through you.
When you become a _______________, you become a conduit of God’s prosperity, allowing His goodness to flow through your life and into the lives of others.
1. Be a Giver.
Proverbs 11:24-25 There is one who scatters yet increases more; there is one who withholds more than right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich. And he who waters will also be watered.
Proverbs 11:24-25 AMP There is one who generously scatters (abroad), and yet increases all the more; and there is the one who withholds what is justly due, but the results only in want and poverty. The generous man is a source of blessing and shall be prosperous and enriched, and he who waters will himself be watered reaping the generosity he has sown
Someone went before you!
Hebrews 7:8-10 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that He lives. Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.
2. Fight for Your Blessings.
Genesis 32:24, 26 Then Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 26) And He said, Let Me go, for the day breaks. But he said, I will not let you go unless You bless me!
3. Put God First.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Have you placed something or someone other than God first in your life?
Psalms 100:5 For the Lord is good; His mercy endures to all generations.
